One could say anything at all and he perhaps would not be wrong. Each day that passes has the exact same number of seconds in it. This is to be expected. It needs the cunning of the ninja because the mind is cunning. It needs the reflectivity of still waters, the strength of being resilient because conflict comes in many forms and the mind is the master of conflict. The mind can be controlled and this is done by being constant about things. Observing something to lead to disastrous results and recognizing it to be such, a precursor of disaster will warn one of venturing into that whirlpool of catastrophe. I am learning to watch and observe things and when certain patterns emerge I examine those patterns and if they are not good then I stay from them. I break the pattern. This is difficult to do because we are all creatures of habit and our minds always take familiar routes even when those routes lead to unhappiness.

deja vu, each, eager, ear, earache, eardrum, earhart, earl, earlobe, early, earmark, earn, earnest, earnings, earphone, earring, earshot, earth, earthen, earthenware, earthling, earthmover, earthquake, earthshaking, earthworm, ease, easel, east, easter, eastern, easy, eat, eatery, eau, eaves, eavesdrop, ebb, ebony, ebook, ebullience, eccentric, ecclesiastical, echelon, echo, eclair, email

Anyway, here's Cagayan de Oro City This is understandable because I have been doing a lot of work and my eyes get tired from staring at the computer monitor. I should get an LCD monitor if I could afford it, but I cannot bear to part with this old monitor which still has a lot of life left in it. Nothing much is happening and the things that I had been banking on have not really jelled as I had expected. So I am feeling drowsy, a little less than lousy and I watch a lot of TV but I fall asleep in front of it so I see very little of the shows. It's time that is getting me down. The year is ending and nothing has happened to make me believe that it will be a good year ahead of me.

cab, cabal, caballero, cabanatuan, cabaret, cabbage, cabin, cabinet, cable, cabochon, caboose, cacao, cacciatori, cache, cacophony, cactus, cad-cam, cadaver, caddy, cadence< cadet, cadmium, cadre, caesar, cafe, cafeteria, caffeine, cagayan de oro city, cage, cager, cairn, cairo, caisson, cajun, cake, cakewalk, calais, calamari, calamine, calamity, calcite, calcium, calculus, calcutta, capiz

Everything could change in an instant, I know that but until that thing that causes instantaneous change comes, I will just have to feel drowsy and a little bit lousy. I care not for the reality around me because I am creating reality in my own mind and it is my dream to one day bring this reality to the fore of everybody else's reality. We all have our dreams and the shy among us fear that others will ridicule their dreams. Nothing could be more wrong. We all have our dreams and we deserve respect for them. I have a dream which nobody else shares. It does not matter at all that this is the case. My fingers were encrusted with uric acid that has crystallized in the cavities of my finger joints. They hurt and would not move the way I wanted them to. Then I saw a piano and the dreams of my youth came back. I stretched my fingers and bent them and moved them this way and that and melted away the encrusting crystals of uric acid and my fingers now move with a little more dexterity.

Come into these sites: Squeak Smalltalk Adventure, The Ordinary Life, Politics: Divine Right of Kings and Presidents, Creation, Life, Consciousness.

Let me dream. One dives deep into the sub-conscious and see what can be found there. This could merely be called daydreaming and well it may be. However, something creative could be happening, thoughts or images could be arranged and rearranged to form new mental entities. Does this activity have any bearing at all on reality? Are imaginings the activities of the deluded? A sign of mental instability perhaps? What do we really know about the mind and its inner workings?

When I was younger, I did not like to sleep. I felt that sleeping was such a waste of precious time. I think perhaps that I was wrong, that sleeping has something to do with renewing one's tools for dealing with reality and waking life. And, sleeping invariably involves dreaming.

Ching's World is a dream. One thought, one image leading to another in endless succession and the ego chases after these thoughts and images without letup but never really able to catch them or hold them long enough to make real sense of who or what they are. The Buddhists have likened the mind to a thought machine that must keep on producing thoughts that in turn push and impel the ego to possess and act upon. The Taoists have identified certain internal organs in the human body to be the seat of emotions and feelings i.e. the kidneys are the seat of fear, the lungs control sorrow, the stomach houses anxiety, the heart holds court over love while anger finds shelter in the liver.

While Western science and philosophy place all cognitive thought in the brain which might be the obvious place for controlling them, Oriental sciences recognize that the human person is an integral being and cannot be dichotomized into the western style of a man having body and soul. Indian philosophy recognizes a much more realistic idea of man as a whole being with everything being a facet or layer of mind. Hence, Tantrik Philosophy accepts seven layers of the mind with the lowest layer being the body, also called "the food layer" and the highest layer of the Causal mind is called "Hiranmaya kosa"

If we accept that mind is indeed more complicated than being merely a part of the body-mind dichotomy, we must therefore confront ourselves with the idea that there are areas of the mind which transcend that of our own unit mind or the mind that is bounded by our ego. Could that Transcendent mind be shared by all unit minds? Carl Jung caught a glimpse of it and called it the Unconscious though he could not describe it adequately. Sigmund Freud correctly guessed that dreams had a major impact on a person's life although he never really understood the mechanism of dreams.

Much of western research including that of Pavlov and the behaviorists were mostly based as are most of western philosophy on the excursions of the mind using that facility called the Intellect. Much if not all of western discussions, dissertations and research including dialectics and existentialism are based on the Intellect and the ability to Reason. Any researches into the Intuition has been relegated to the s0-called Paranormal investigations. Many of these researches focused on the fanciful and magical befitting more a carnival show than serious research. The Russians pursued this line of research more vigorously as did the Americans in secret facilities in order to find uses for it in warfare.

It is only recently that serious attention has been paid to Intuitional Sciences that have been practiced for thousands of years in India, Tibet and China. The Tantrik yogis of Tibet have developed the skill to control their Manipura Chakra which controls the element of fire to regulate their body temperature such that they are able to withstand the sub-zero temperatures of the Humalayas without wearing heavy clothing. They were known as the "sky-clad yogis" being garbed only in thin cotton sheets. In recent demonstratons, modern-day yogis who have mastered techniques developed thousands of years ago, were able to dry up wet blankets placed over them using only their body temperatures to evaporate the water-logged fabrics and these demonstrations were performed in freezing temperatures with the yogis wearing nothing but loincloths.

----0000----

For mental health, try meditation.

In a daze in the Cyber Jungle

Cyber space is really a jungle, full of traps for the unwary. One initially thinks of it as a vast landscape where one can write something indelible as on a granite tablet, to last longer than a lifetime. Surfing the Cyberspace steadily as I had done these past few weeks quickly brings that notion to an unceremonious halt when one is confronted with a 401 error message for a missng page or even an unlocatable server. Like shifting sands in the desert, the World Wide Web is as stable as the marketplace that makes it hum. Sure, there are perrenial signposts like Yahoo, MSN, or Google. However, quite a number have fallen by the wayside, or gobbled up by the giants and resurrected as something new just like a Phoenix rising from the ashes.

The World Wide Web has become my current dream and I live in it for most of the day, taking time out only to eat and sleep and maybe do an errand or two. It never ceases to amaze me. One day you think that you have a handle on it, the next day you find it was as real as a daydream when you find it to be so different from how it was dished out to you. I am talking of the dreams being peddle in the Internet. They all share a common theme and that is to bring the marketplace to you, or in Internet parlance: traffic.

What good is a well-designed, well-organized, well- thought out website if nobody knows it is there. I am informed that there are over 56 million websites and the number keeps on going. This is the kind of population explosion which is not so heavy on real estate. A small country like Western Samoa or Tokelau can be a presence in the World Wide Web if it has the infrastructure to connect to the Information Superhighly which Bill Clinton and Al Gore promoted. This bit of information I gleaned from suto-surfing the Web.

This is another new term I have learned from my forays into the Dreamland called the Internet. It is a kind of surfing on auto-pilot where you just watch the websites go whizzing by every thirty seconds or so; and, it anything catches your fancy you can just reach for the mouse and click on "pause" to get a closer view. I wake up early now to begin a new day of surfing the net, checking mails, updating blogs, figuring out a way to promote my blogs, checking out whatever is out there in the World Wide Web. It is truly amazing, the Internet is. Many people may use it for purposes which were never intended, like peddling porn or fomenting hate and advocating the destruction of other countries like the case of terrorist sites but, it is a medium for communicatomg with people you don't even know about, but one whose effectiveness is largely an unknown factor. You broadcast your message with the hope that someone will respond.

It is not so easy as it seems. Even if it is so easy to publish something without knowing any CSS or HTML, one still has to figure out a thousand other things to bring that web page to those that care to read it. It was a frustrating time at first but using the resources available in just a few keystrokes on a search bar, I easily locate thousands upon thousands of links that give me information about website promotion and what other people are doing to promote their websites.

Many websites are real eye-openers when it comes to style and design and what can be done to make a website easy on the eyes. Of course, there is the ever-important issue of content. What do you want to present to your audience? Authoritative people, writers who are experts on the Internet never fail to emphasize the necessity of providing relevant content. They say content is king and it is a bit confusing at first but, keepiing at it even in the midst of confusion somehow helps to clarify your mind about what it is you want to say. It would not do to just blurt out anything that makes no sense. One has to figure out the message that one wants to bring across.

Cools blogs basking in the Blog Park. Visit these pages:

Thoughts on the ideal world

The Blog Bum

Karma and Science

Papoy

Underdogs World

Depression

I did not know that I was depressive and that depression was a disease. Watching Larry King Live on CNN one day awoke me to this terrible realization. One of the symptoms of Depression is lethargy and being sleepy. I have always been on the blue side of the spectrum emotion-wise and this I thought was due to my 'artistic' nature. Sapoton was how they put it in Visayan. I preferred to characterize myself as melancholic and it seemed to suit my taste in music and the colors that I liked and wore. The songs that I liked tended towards the minor key, painful partings or unrequited love.

I would have a hard time getting up in the morning as though I was afraid of what the day would bring. If nothing catastrophic happened during the day I would congratulate myself at night before turning in of haviing had a 'good' day; a boring, uneventful day it might be but one without something tragic happening like losing money or getting into trouble. Looking back at my life I realize that I was indeed depressive and somehow afraid of what life could bring; and I determined to do something about it. I needed to find a way to get myself sorted out.

Visit these sites:

Blog Crazy

XUHS Class of 1966

Reaching Out

Squeak Smalltalk Adventure

Underdogs World

My life is a dream

Each day in my life nowadays is much like the day before it, such that one might be tempted to say that I am vegetating or sleeping my life away. I am more or less stuck where I am or as they say, "confined to barracks" a derogatory term I'm sure but which nevertheles describes accurately my current situation. As they say, if life gives you lemons then make lemonade and that is precisely what I am doing.

I am unable to travel, or vacation in sandy beaches, or to reach out to old friends or party and make new ones. These pleasures and opportunities are more or less restricted to me but the life I am living a life not ordinary. I am the king of all that I survey. I might be limited in what I can possess but I am in control of a wonderful resource: my imagination. There is no limit to what I can picture in my mind, the flowers I can gaze at and smell. My life is a dream and no kings are allowed to intrude into my realm. I sit alone, hour after hour, tending to my thoughts and giving free rein to my dreams as they gallop and prance their way largely unhampered in Cyber Space.

Body and soul

Man is often referred to as having a body and a soul. Body is quite easy to point out but soul is an abstract concept. Talking about the body is easy and many interesting points and ideas can be raised about it. Countless books have been written about the body and how to take care of it, to enhance portions of it, to make it stronger and more pleasant to look at, as well as the many places that adornments that can be placed on it. The soul on the other hand is difficult to pin down without going into a discussion with a decidedly religious slant. With the body one can easily prove or disprove a contention by experimentation and by looking for authoritative opinions by various experts. What of the mind? Where does it reside? Is mind part of the body or is it an expression of the soul? Is it correct to dichotomize man the way many thinkers do?

I have heard of certain parts of the body being identified to be the "seat of the soul". Is it reasonable to assume that the soul is housed in a specific portion of the body? The brain might be a good place to assume as the seat of the soul and I am certain that there can be found reasons for declaring it to be so.The heart could be a good canditate and I have read somewhere that the tailbone might be the seat of the soul. Who knows? Does the soul reside in the body? Or is the body a mere vehicle for the soul in which case the discussion of where the soul can be found within the body becomes unnecessary or even impractical? How important is the body to the soul? Many esoteric literatures speak of the body as being the material housing for the soul which makes it pretty important. Without the body the soul cannot find expression in objective reality. Is this statement correct? If it is then we can conclude that the body not just a housing but even all-important to the soul which validates or accepts the basic premises of physical health and proper nutrition and exercise to preserve, nurture and appreciate it.

The American Dream...is it universal?

Is the American Dream the ideal dream? Does everyone want money and more money, cars, a house in the suburbs, a great job, good health and health insurance. I dream of having lots of friends, having a nice European car, songs in my heart, maybe work at home and never have to go to an office in a tall building, write emails everyday to loved ones who could not be with me, maybe learn another language, have a huge life insurance.

Work is important to a man and being doing a good job often means doing a job that you want to do. That one can make money while doing something that one likes to do is probably the best dream anyone can have. Working at home or having a home-based business is desirable and these days more and more people are finding out that money can be made online. Never mind that there are very blatant scams that scream in your face. If one is diligent enough one can find a niche for oneself in the world wide web. His dream is the Dream of Creation and the Universe. That which we know and call Reality is really nothing more than the internal musings of the Divine Creator. He dreams and we come to being. Things may appear solid to us but to the atoms that compose them it is a different matter altogether. Electrons dance around protons and the two never meet. It is as if there is infinite space between them. So tiny are they that a whole lof of them are packed into a small space and still they cannot see each other at all. A neutrino is so tiny that it goes through anything. It cannot be stopped except by another Neutrino moving in the opposite direction. Therefore, as far as a neutrino is concerned there is nothing else in the universe because it cannot touch anything. It goes through planets and asteroids like it's a superhighway with nothing in it. Is reality really real or is it just a dream?

Waves and particles are really not two different things or are they? A particle can exhibit wavelike behaviour and vice versa for a wave. So, are they one and the same thing but capable of changing into the other when the fancy hits them? Is a rock really solid? Does a neutrino realize it is solid? They say "if God intended man to fly then He would have given him wings". Yet, nowadays man flies faster than a bird can. What may be a dream in the past can be reality in the future. Is life Real or is it a Dream? What then is the nature of Reality and Dreams? Are the ancient Indian Thinkers and Philosophers right in calling the Expressed Universe nothing more than the Dream of Brahma?

I like to dream

Is it a curse or something good to be dreaming always? I like to dream and not necessarily when I am asleep but even when I am awake. I like to wander off and try out different things in my mind. In my younger years dreaming (the regular stuff when sleeping) was a scary affair because I often had frightful dreams like being chased by witches of the Filipino variety who are more like banshees and demonic beings with bat-wings and they are more scary than the witches of Occidental origin with their pointy hats and broomsticks. My witches could fly through the air with their batlike wings and chase me. Very often I would also try to fly and you know how it is when you are dreaming and being chased, you do lose your mobility and would tend to get glued to the air which you are trying so hard to navigate.
I do have some nice dreams too sometimes, but I cannot remember them at all. What sticks to my mind are the nightmares. I managed to get rid of these nightmares when I was initiated into Yoga and learned to meditate with a Mantra. So, there I was dreaming again but armed now with my Mantra. True to form, my tormentor made her appearance and began to terrorize me. I turned the tables on her and started chasing her as I shouted my Mantra at her which, was greatly disconcerting to the poor thing. I laughed out loud and challenged her to come back and do her worst.. I clearly remembered the entire episode when I woke up the following day. The following night I waited for her to appear but my waiting was in vain.
